The latest figures revealed by Net Applications, in particular, which measure the percentage of use of operating systems and Web browsers revealed that Windows 7 will progressively increase its market share, like Google Chrome.
The new Microsoft OS wins 10.16% of market shares in the month of January 2010, after only four months since its launch on 22 October 2009, with 3.48% market share. These figures may be compared to the 60 million licenses of Windows 7 sold since its release. However, if sales of Windows 7 will continue to have this rate, the threshold of 20% of market share can be realized by the end of the first half of 2010.
And ‘interesting to note that the market share of Windows 7 increases the weekend than the rest of the week. But this is not a real surprise. Indeed, we know that companies usually wait several months before migrating to the new OS and in particular expect the launch of Service Pack 1. The current enthusiasm for Windows 7 is therefore to be found more among the general public (consumer users) rather than in the professional segment.
From the point of view, its Windows operating systems obtained in January to 92.02% of market share, compared to 5.13% to 1.02% for Mac and Linux. At the same time, it is noted in the segment of browser, Chrome, Google continues to increase its presence in the market from month to month to reach 5.20% in January 2010. In comparison, last month, Internet Explorer (still the industry leader), has won 62.18% of market share, compared to 24.41% for Firefox, which has seen decline between December 2009 and January 2010 his popularity.
Chrome square in third place, followed by Safari growing reaching 4.51%, while Opera sits in fifth place with 2.38% market share. Points out that the version 4.0 of Google Chrome is available for a week and Firefox 3.6 from January 21, 2010.
