The New Beetle is coming? It seems so, yes: the second generation should be on the market in 2011 and bet more on the dynamics that retro style that has made this model of Volkswagen. The concept version will be at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November, while the final will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. And while we talk about the cabriolet version, which should follow in 2012. Like the current model even that date will be assembled in the factory Volkswagen in Puebla, Mexico, where it will be produced also the new Jetta. The two cars share the platform and then the new Beetle will have a completely revised chassis with a whole longer and a wider track.

It will be interesting to see the new interpretation of style, but certainly the updated model design division of Volkswagen will be based on the concept Ragstar in 2005. According to inside sources will tend to a more defined style lines to “break” with the look and simple little ‘bare the current model. Then the roof line will be like that of Ragstar, less round. Not because it will abandoned the style that characterizes the Beetle with round headlights and wheel arches carved in addition to a very high waistline. The interior will be revised to reorganize the spaces increased, although the lower roof will reduce the space for the head. The trunk has a capacity of 250 liters.
The engines of the new Beetle will be a 1.2 liter 105 hp, a 1.4-liter 160 horsepower and a 2-liter 210 horsepower. A 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and 170 horses is restricted to the U.S. market. The diesel will be the new 1.6 from 105 horses and 2-liter 140 horsepower. There will, as is the custom, even the hybrid version with 150 hp turbo 1.4 engine coupled to an electric motor for 27 horses.
