Skype available on Nokia smartphones

Skype and Nokia have announced the launch of Skype for Symbian, a Skype client for Nokia smartphones based on Symbian, the most popular smartphone platform in the world.

Skype for Symbian will allow users of Nokia smartphones around the world to use Skype while traveling, either through Wi-Fi or via mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). The application can be downloaded for free from Skype or Ovi Store, Nokia for mobile content. Skype will work on any work for Symbian smartphones using Symbian v 1, the most recent version of the Symbian platform. Skype will soon launch this client on Symbian also other manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson.

The Skype application for Symbian is immediately compatible with the following touchscreen Nokia: Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, X6 Nokia, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia 5530 and the following non-touch devices: Nokia E72, Nokia E71, Nokia E90 , Nokia E63, Nokia E66, Nokia E51, Nokia N96, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N85, Nokia N82, Nokia N81, Nokia N81 8GB, Nokia N79, Nokia N78, Nokia 6220 classic, Nokia 6210 Navigator, Nokia 5320 .
