In the first half of 2011, PC makers plan to launch over 200 new products (a real record) configured with a NVIDIA GeForce graphics processing unit (GPU) combined with Intel Sandy Bridge, the new generation of Intel CPU.

The new products should include a wide range of notebook and desktop of major OEM, including Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Medion, Packard Bell, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and many others. The need for graphics processing power continues to increase and computer manufacturers are turning increasingly to the NVIDIA GeForce GPU to ensure excellent levels of performance (and quite impossible for integrated graphics) applications such as gaming, video editing, Web browsing and movies in 3D.

Unlike the basic graphics integrated into Intel Sandy Bridge CPU, GeForce GPU provide advanced features and greater compatibility with the new PC games, such as those based on Microsoft DirectX 11.

David Lee, associate vice president of Acer Mobile Computing Business, said: “Consumers are increasingly using their notebooks for the use and content creation, and this happens in many different places and times. The GeForce graphics Boost with Optimus technology bring Acer notebook ensures superlative performance graphics when they are needed and maximizing battery life when they are unnecessary. “

“The demand for dedicated graphics solutions from OEM remains strong and well above historical levels,” said Dean McCarron of Mercury Research. “We expect strong growth in the coming years for the dedicated GPU solutions in both the notebook and desktop. Base on the current distribution rate of the GPU, Mercury Research predicts a doubling of shipments between 2009 and 2014. “

“Given the explosion of digital content and entertainment, not cause for some surprise that person prefer laptops with GeForce,” said Jeff Fisher, vice president of NVIDIA GeForce. “The growth figures reflect the essential need to improve the viewing experience to the PC.” Only NVIDIA GeForce GPU are able to offer features such as:

* Support for NVIDIA 3D Vision technology for the display of highly realistic 3D environments
* Support of the PhysX physics engine to run games with the physical effects of unparalleled realism
* Supports CUDA technology for GPU computing applications
* NVIDIA Green Driver notebook to guarantee system stability and performance
* Support NVIDIA 3DTV Play Software, for connection to notebook and desktop computers with 3D Vision Technology to 3D TV.
