Replaced by audio and video recorders came to laser disc players, more compact, convenient and high-quality, but retaining all the same main drawback of their predecessors: a collection of professional music lover or film fans took up too much space. And therefore now also becoming important media centers, storing the data on the volume, but the compact drives. Then a new problem: the interfaces of these systems are too complicated.

To fight this problem was solved by the French designer Jérôme Olivet (Jerome Olivet), who introduced the concept system called Magic Orange. The system includes four components. SILVER is a kind of tablet computer, in fact it is the remote control, from which we select the music or video. The second component is called MAGIC, is equipped with gyroscopes “magic wand”, through which the user controls the process of reproduction.

The third component was FLOWER, this is actually a central component of media center, made in a transparent casing and equipped with a camera – presumably, he supports a three-dimensional touch interface. And, finally, the fourth member of the family – device called CIRCLE, having on board three floating keys on the touchpad. It’s not everything, and easy, right? It turns out that, wishing to simplify the interface, Jerome was even more complicated.
