Intel will officially launch the Intel Sandy Bridge processor family at the next CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011 in Las Vegas.

The Californian chipmaker confirmed (via Engagdet) its intention to officially present the Sandy Bridge family of Intel processors at the next CES 2011 in Las Vegas to be held in early January. Intel has not released much information about the new components but in the past have been circulating rumors that suggest the salient features.

Let us recall that Sandy Bridge processor with 32-nanometer process production are divided into Workstation categories (Core i7 Extreme Edition and Core i7 processors with vPro technology), Best Business Platform (Core i7 and Core i5 with vPro technology, and Core i7 LV, Core i7 ULV, and Core i5 ULV, Intel QM67 and QS67), and Better Business Platform (i5 Core and Core i7, Intel HM67) and are dedicated to the Intel Huron River platform. The code number of processors, compared to those currently on the market, adding the number “2″ and is therefore easy to remember.

As reported by DigiTimes, the first units to be provided by the first quarter of 2011 are the models is Core i7 2920XM in 2.5 GHz, Core i7 2820QM in 2.3 GHz, Core i7 2720QM in 2.2 GHz, Core i7 2620M in 2.7 GHz, Core i5 2540M in 2.6 GHz, Core i5 2520M in 2.5 GHz. Intel has announced to get to market even the Core i7 2640LM, Core i7 2620LM, Core i7 2630UM and Core i7 2610LM models, as well as the Core i5 2530UM that will add to the first models, extending the offer made by the producer in the various market segments.

Sandy Bridge processors are equipped with Hyperthreading and Turbo Boost and will include the integration of a memory controller and a graphics chip integrated Intel HD (GT2), called Ironlak, compatible with the DirectX10.1 graphics libraries and native support for HDMI 1.3. The graphics chip should provide significantly better performance than integrated solutions in the current Arrandale. The manufacturer estimates an increase of up to twice the performance. The same processors also include, support for SATA 3 to 6 Gbps.

One key aspect of the new processors developed by Intel is the introduction of Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) technology, a 256 bit able to accelerate the handling and processing of data. For completeness, we recall that the new Sandy Bridge processors will be paired with Cougar Point 6 Series Chipset Intel B65, H61, H67, HM67, P67, Q65, QM67, QS67, which require the presence of WiFi 802.11n, WiMAX, and Gigabit Ethernet.
