Since many months, the first Intel Atom N550 dual core processor officially aimed at netbooks (low-cost ultraportable computers) was presented yesterday by Intel, which promises an imminent arrival on the market.

Intel Atom N550 should be brought to market soon, in a long series of netbooks signed Toshiba, Samsung, Asus, MSI, LG, Fujitsu and others. To date, the company of Santa Clara had a Atom N330 dual core processor, but should only use in compact desktop computer, and nettop systems, all-in-one entry level. Despite these guidelines, some CPU netbook manufacturers have chosen to integrate this, including Asus with its Eee PC 1201N.
With Atom N550, Intel claims to have reached a good compromise between power and energy consumption. The new model has, in fact (as some rumors had expected), a theoretical frequency of operation equal to 1.5GHz (compared to 1.66GHz Atom N450 single core). Still using 45 nanometer manufacturing process, Atom N550 integrates 1MB of L2 cache memory, GMA X3150 graphics chip at 200MHz, and supports up to 2GB of DDR3 memory.
Equip with Hyperthreading Technology (two core logic for the physical core), Intel Atom N550 has the thermal dissipation (TDP) of 8.5W maximum. In short, according to new Intel Atom N550 processor will surf the Internet on the move with a better reactivity but also to ensure the support of Flash games and content, without loss of autonomy than the current N450. The first netbook with Atom N550 will be announced in coming days.
