With the new Intel Atom N475 and N455, the chip maker California leads the DDR3 memory support on mobile devices. Let’s see, in detail, the specifications of the two processors.
This is news to those who are always waiting. Finally, according to rumors circulating on the network, Intel, decided to bring to market two new Atom family processors with DDR3 memory support, belonging to the platform Pine Trail. Bloggerisme, in a previous article, had already announced that such a change was in the air.

The models in question are Intel Atom N455, a sort of upgrade of the model N450, N475 and Atom and work at a frequency of, respectively, at 1.6 GHz and 1.83 GHz Both solutions will continue to share the core graph ‘N450, or the Intel X3150. Other technical specifications issued by the manufacturer, regarding the TDP equal to 5.5 W for N455, and 6.5 W for the N475 model.
Compared with Intel Atom N450 and N470, the very real difference would only support DDR3 memory as previous models stop at the DDR2. Need to see if this device is able to produce a major improvement of performance and in return for what price.
The first solutions based on new processors developed by Intel, should start making their appearance on the markets since the second half of the year. Anyway, is not the first time you have rumors for Atom processor with support for DDR3 memory. Therefore, it is expected a few more weeks to get official confirmation from Intel.
