According to an article by Wall Street Journal, Google might soon reveal new features of social networks as part of its email service Gmail.
Currently, subscribers to Gmail can already communicate with each other through the GTalk application and change the status of your profile on Google. The company in Mountain View want to add, however, a news service and post in real time, similar to the system proposed by Twitter and Facebook. These new tools should allow to more easily integrate the multimedia content of various sites such as Google Picasa, Blogger and Youtube.

According to reports from Wall Street Journal, users should be able to see “a stream of updates and news of friends who want to connect.” Gmail is not the first webmail who bet on the features of a social network. For some time, Yahoo! Mail and Windows Live Hotmail also offer similar services that allow subscribers to read the latest updates from their contacts on many networks, directly from the home page of their webmail.
We can imagine that in Gmail, these new options (which could be activated early next week) are included in Gmail Labs.
