Google has finally revealed the identity of its Google eBooks new service (and not Google Editions). The digital library was launched a few hours ago at the United States.

Announced several months ago, Google online library has finally seen the light. The launch in the U.S. for Google eBooks (and not Google Editions as it was until today) took place just hours ago. For arrival in other countries, will need to wait until next year. For the U.S., Google eBooks has more than 3 million e-books, some free and some fee. The purchase is made directly from Google eBookstore (Google Checkout) or through one of Google partner sites.

All books purchased are placed in an online library of infinite storage capacity (You need a Google account). The online service cans be accessed from any device connected to the Internet, probably the biggest advantage of Google eBooks. Will be offered free tools to Android and Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). The reading will be done by the web browser and with the possibility for some books to choose fonts, sizes, fonts and line spacing.

Google eBook is also compatible with the ebook reader, including Nook and Sony Reader. On the contrary, there will be support for the Amazon Kindle. Google says still open for future compatibility. With its Google Books project launched in 2004, Google announced that it has digitized more than 15 million books through partnerships with more than 35,000 publishers and 40 libraries.
