Asus EeePC 1005PR , the first Eee netbook with 10-inch HD screen, presented at the CeBIT 2010, in a video showing the accelerator Broadcom Crystal HD work in conjunction with the platform Pine Trail.
The Asus EeePC 1005PR netbook we have talked recently. This is a system equipped with an Intel Atom N450 clocked at 1.66 GHz and X3150 integrated graphics chip. The base memory is 1 GB and the hard disk has a capacity of 250 GB. More specific notes, in addition to the 10.1-inch diagonal display, a classic for this line of devices are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. But our stay at CeBIT in Hannover has allowed us to discover a detail not to be underestimated.
In fact, the screens on the installed components, it was possible to elicit the presence of a graphics accelerator that Broadcom Crystal HD, we recall, was born as a solution to pair with devices based on the Intel platform Pine Trail capable of playing video streams up to resolution 1080p. This option will attempt to address the inherent limitations of the integrated graphics controller and, more importantly, those displayed by the processor. In fact, the HD Crystal Card helps reduce the CPU utilization to 20-25% since the release of intense activity decoding when playing movies in High Definition.
It should be remembered that Crystal HD Broadcom, although media formats H.264/AVC, MPEG-2, VC-1, WMV9, MPEG-4, DivX, XviD and AVS, is not able to handle 3D acceleration. In this area, the platform nVidia ION seems, at present, the most convincing.
