The first review and Specifications of Asus Eee PC 1215n coincides with the publication on the official website of the Taiwanese manufacturer.

The technical characteristics were already known, but we summarize again after we reminder. The distinctive features of the 1215n model are, as is obvious, the 12-inch panoramic screen with resolution WXGA compatible HD 720p, and dedicated Nvidia Ion 2 video card, as more powerful 16 core.
The presence of a dedicated GPU (the current generation of chips Ion Nvidia has lost the function of keeping only those chipset graphics accelerator) helps to reduce the processor by decoding the H.264 HD video streams and allows you to have a HDMI digital video output to connect an external HDTV.

Asus Eee PC 1215n is expected on store shelves in August and September, but Netbooklive colleagues were able to get a couple (models black and silver) the first examples of this netbook, running a nice review accompanied by a couple of videos. Premise that once the tests have confirmed the good quality of assembly and materials, large and comfortable keyboard and touchpad, and good quality multimedia hardware equipment. Among the drawbacks identified in the review, however, there are the high reflection of the display, the small rotation angle of the screen, the layout a bit uncomfortable, the poor stability of the keyboard and the “horrible” quality of the selection bar touchpad.
The result is a portrait with strong lights and shadows that could raise some concern on potential buyers, even if those who buy a netbook should put in mind that the build quality may not be comparable to much more expensive machines. However, we reserve the right to verify directly the results of these tests.
Absent on test machines USB 3.0 interfaces that could instead be mounted on the Eee PC 1215n offered to the public.
Benchmarks performed, include SuperPI and wPrime. The first measure performance in a single-threaded, then it is useless for evaluating the capability of dual-core Atom D525 of this notebook, while wPrime would not offer multithreaded benchmarks, given that we use in 7Zip his stead. Plus we get some indication from an empirical test, consisting of the HD video playback: the task manager of Windows 7 shows the consumption of the processor resources of less than 15% a good result in line with the data that we obtained in preview Computex.
We conclude with unoverview battery life. The choice of using a dual-core nettop (fixed netbook variant) has a negative impact on autonomy, despite Nvidia Optimus technology enables to optimize power consumption by disabling the dedicated GPU automatically.
