The new Intel Atom N570 processor will be officially presented by the Santa Clara chipmaker in a few hours. In Hall of ASUS at CeBIT 2011, however, was already a netbook equipped with this new dual-core CPU: This is the Asus Eee PC 1015PN you can see in the picture accompanying this article.

Seashell is a series of Asus netbook, already widely available in other configurations, all linked by the presence of a Nvidia Ion 2 graphics accelerator. The graphics performance is therefore better than the netbook average IGP graphics, but to date there were supported by equally brilliant performance computing.

The new processor Aton N570 could reduce this gap by attending high enough for its category, amounting to 1.66 GHz, and the index of Windows seems to confirm this assumption.

To properly place the new processor in the supply of processors for netbooks, we performed a pair of comparative tests with two other netbook presented at CeBIT 2011 in European preview: Asus Eee PC 1015B and Asus Eee PC 1215B. They both AMD Brazos respectively with Fusion processors C50 Ontario (1 GHz) and E350 Zacate (1.6 GHz).

The first test wants to evaluate the performance in single-threaded applications, such as always using SuperPi. As expected, the two AMD-running out of order can calculate a million digits of pi in greek times significantly lower than Atom N570 execution in order.

The decision is reversed for the Atom when you go to examine the performance in multi-threaded applications, using the benchmark of 7Zip. Here, the four core logic (Hyperthreading) of the N570 can easily beat the two cores physical processor C50 Ontario, and little to outweigh the cores of AMD E350.
